The Benefits of Dental Implants

dental implants weston ct | fairfield dental artsLooking to replace a lost tooth? There are many cosmetic dental options available to you – but for a permanent, secure and natural looking smile, we recommend dental implants. Here are a few of the benefits of choosing dental implants to restore your smile.

Dental Implant Benefits:

  • Long Lasting – Dental implants are designed to last a lifetime. They are attached directly to your jawbone and do not require replacements over time.
  • Natural Look & Feel – Dental implants are custom designed to match the look and feel of your unique smile. You won’t be able to tell the difference between your implant and your natural teeth.
  • No Additional Care –Unlike other restorative dental options, dental implants do not require any additional care. You can treat your dental implant just as you would a natural tooth, with regular brushing, flossing and bi-annual cleanings.
  • Security – Unlike dentures or partial dentures that can slip out of place, dental implants are a sturdy dental restoration that lets you eat, talk and laugh with confidence.

You’ve Chipped Your Tooth – What Should You Do?

fairfield dental artsWhether you bit on a hard object, a cavity weakened your tooth or you fell and hit your mouth, we know how frustrating a chipped tooth can be. Before you panic – remember that there are things that you can do to help ease any pain and restore your natural smile!

Steps to Follow:

  • Rinse Your Mouth – Rinse your mouth with warm water and if you’re in pain, take a painkiller to help ease discomfort.
  • Apply Pressure (if needed) – If your mouth is bleeding, apply gauze and pressure to the area. If this doesn’t work, try using a tea bag with pressure on the area until the bleeding stops.
  • Give Us a Call – A dentist can help you determine the extent of your tooth damage. Minor tooth chips can be polished and smoothed to restore your tooth. We can even use bonding to restore the natural appearance of your smile. More serious chips that damage the nerve of your tooth can be filled or protected with a crown.

If you have recently chipped your tooth, don’t worry. Our dental professionals are here to help you restore the health and beauty of your smile. We offer a number of restorative dental services that will help bring back your natural smile. Why You’ll Want to Restore Your Smile with Dental Implants

dental implants weston ct | fairfield county dentistDo you have  a missing tooth? Are you in need of an extraction? You’ll want to restore your smile with a dental implant. Here are a few of the benefits that dental implants can offer your smile.

Benefits of Dental Implants:

  • They’re Long Lasting – Dental implants are one of the most sought after restorative dental options because they are designed to last a lifetime.
  • They Look Natural – Each implant is custom designed to match the look and feel of your smile. No one will be able to distinguish your implant from your other natural teeth.
  • They Don’t Require Any “Extra” Care – Bridges, partial dentures and other restorative dental options do require some extra dental care. However, implants are designed to act exactly as your natural tooth does. The only care it requires is regular brushing and flossing.
  • They’ll Help Improve Your Oral Health – Missing, cracked or loose teeth put your smile at risk of developing oral health problems. By replacing your missing teeth with a dental implant restoration, you can improve the overall health of your smile.

How to Restore Your Natural Smile with Dental Implants

Dental implants weston ct | fairfield dental artsAccidents happen — and although a missing tooth can be a frustrating dental problem, you don’t have to panic. There are several ways to restore the beauty and functionality of your smile.

Dental implants are one of the longest lasting, natural and popular restorative dental options currently available. Not only do dental implants restore the health of your smile by keeping your teeth from shifting, they also offer cosmetic benefits.  Each dental implant is custom designed to match the color, texture and shape of your unique smile.

How do dental implants work?

Dental implants are designed to attach directly to your jaw bone, creating a natural look and feel.

This does require surgery, so patients will need to have suitable jawbone for the implant. Once the implant heals and the bone forms to the shape of the dental implant, it is sturdy and in place.

Dental implants are designed to last a lifetime, so that you don’t have to worry about replacing your dental restoration. Unlike other restorative dental options, dental implants do not require alterations to your eating or oral health care habits.

We offer this restorative dental service here at Fairfield Dental Arts.  Dr. Iaropoli is a highly skilled prosthodontist with extensive post-graduate training and certification in implant dentistry.  Call 203-254-3780 to schedule an appointment for a consultation or visit our website for more information on the different treatments and services that we offer at Fairfield Dental Arts.

Accidents happen — and it’s important to be prepared. In the unfortunate event you find yourself with a missing tooth, here are the steps that you should take.

What to Do When You Lose a Tooth:

  1. Grab the tooth by the crown (not the root).
  2. Try to place the tooth back in your mouth. Bit down gently on gauze to keep it in place. Be careful not to swallow the tooth.
  3. If the tooth cannot be place back, place the tooth in a container and cover it with whole milk or saliva.
  4. Apply a cold compress to the mouth and gums to ease the pain.
  5. Visit the dentist right away.

With immediate dental care, you can avoid infection and pain.  In many cases, you will even be able to save the tooth.

While restoring your natural tooth is always our number one priority, we also offer restorative options like dental implants and bridges to help restore the functionality and aesthetics of your smile.
