When plaque builds on your teeth, it can irritate your gums and eventually lead to more serious dental conditions.  This gum irritation, also known as Gingivitis, is the first stage of gum disease. It’s important that if you do experience signs of gingivitis, that you address the issue before it progresses. Be on the lookout for these early signs.

Signs of Gingivitis:

  • Swelling Gums
  • Receding Gums
  • Tenderness
  • Redness (instead of healthy pink)
  • Gums that bleed easily when brushing and flossing

With good oral hygiene, you can prevent gingivitis, keeping your teeth beautiful and healthy. Remember to brush and floss twice a day, eat right, avoid tobacco and schedule regular dental visits to keep your smile healthy. If you do notice any of the signs and symptoms of gingivitis, schedule an appointment at our office. We can help you remove the plaque causing your gums to become inflamed.
